Heavy Metal E. Coli Biosensors

I worked under Dr. Philip Bittihn to learn molecular cloning techniques in order to develop sensor strains of E. coli that would detect low levels of heavy metals.
I had my first hands-on experience with molecular biology and academic research in general. From Dr. Bittihn, I learned and practiced basic techniques in molecular cloning to create synthetic constructs for this project.
